Mount Hope has always felt like home to me because I basically grew up here visiting my grandparents home weekly. Although I graduated from LCHS, I gained many friends over the years and attended church with many people in this community. I am invested in the community and the children who live here. Teaching is my number one passion, and I can't imagine doing anything else. Helping students learn and excel has always be to exciting to me!
Art has always been a passion that I love to share with the students through the curriculums as often as time allows. Music and hunting with my family are also hobbies that I often enjoy. I look forward to a wonderful school year with your kiddos. Let’s get ready for a safe, fun, and education filled year!!!!

(Roar Lions!)
Music is a big part of my life. I began learning to play the guitar when I was ten. Then I began playing the drums when I was twelve. I continue to play both instruments for worship service at church. My favorite season is summer! I love to fish, swim, and work in the garden. My favorite place to be is at the beach. I enjoy reading and look forward to introducing new literature to your children. Thank you so much for trusting me with your children! Let’s get this year started!
Kylie Pickens
Sixth Grade
I am Kylie Pickens, and I teach fifth and sixth grade math, science, and social studies at Mt. Hope School. I attended Mt. Hope School and graduated in 2006. I received my bachelor’s in education from Athens State University and masters in education from University of North Alabama. I began my teaching career in 2012 at Mt. Hope School. I have taught 3rd-6th grade, with most of my career being in the third grade classroom.
I was born and raised in Mt. Hope on our family’s farm. I have a sweet little Morkiepoo that is my baby boy. He is precious and full of energy. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy going on vacations, but I mostly love being home. I have always enjoyed sports, softball being one of my favorite. I could always be found throwing or bouncing a ball around when I was growing up.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I grew up in the school setting with my mother being the school bookkeeper. So, I always felt like I belonged in the school. It warms my heart to see students smile every morning, and to watch that lightbulb of knowledge really click on for students. I love it when little arms wrap around me and tell me they had good day, or when a student comes back to see me days before their senior graduation. Those are days when I know teaching is right for me.
